We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join the team at Ottolenghi Islington. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident CDP ready to step up, or an established Junior Sous looking to refine their craft in a creative, fast-paced kitchen known for bold, vibrant flavours.

What you’ll be doing

As Junior Sous Chef, you’ll support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in leading the kitchen and delivering the dishes that define Ottolenghi. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing service on your sections and ensuring dishes meet Ottolenghi standards
  • Supporting with daily prep, menu execution, and smooth service flow
  • Helping train, guide, and support more junior chefs
  • Taking an active role in ordering, stock control, and maintaining kitchen organisation
  • Ensuring high levels of food safety, hygiene, and consistency
  • Contributing ideas and creativity to menu development and daily specials
  • Working closely with the senior kitchen team to maintain quality and efficiency

What we’re looking for

We’re after someone with strong technical ability, leadership potential, and a calm, positive attitude. Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience as a strong Chef de Partie ready to step up, or as an established Junior Sous
  • Confidence running a section and supporting junior team members
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and vibrant, flavourful cooking
  • A commitment to teamwork, learning, and maintaining high kitchen standards
